Types of Lathe Processing

A lathe is a machine with a wide range of applications. By turning workpieces, symmetrical or balanced parts can be manufactured. From simple wooden bowls to complex engine crankshafts, everything can be turned on a lathe. Lathes are not only the main tools in the mechanical industry, but also the primary tools for woodworking and automotive applications.

Types of lathe processing:

● Car outer circle: the most basic operation, machining the outer cylindrical surface of shaft and rod parts.

● Facing&Grooving/groove cutting: Processing the end face of the workpiece, or cutting the inner and outer grooves, and cutting the groove.

● Boring: Expanding and trimming existing holes to achieve high-precision dimensions and smoothness.

● Thread turning: Turning internal and external threads, such as screws, bolts, and nuts.

● Car cone surface/special surface: By adjusting the tool path, machining cone surfaces or complex rotating surfaces.

● Cutting: Cutting off the processed workpiece from the raw material.

● Drilling/center hole: Use a tailstock or power tool holder for drilling processing.
